Part Twelve: Harry J.F. Bloomfield

Fragment II

The act of communicating with Harry always gave me hope about the usefulness of my precious plans for Cambodia. I had no doubts about his honesty and integrity, knowing as I did the value of his family ideals. They had been laid by his grandfather and father, whom he had told me about earlier. I also knew the strength of his religion and his faith, which reflected his character like crystal-clear water. And, of course, I was also influenced by the recommendation of Barry Tucker, who brought an existing reality of his social portrait. Those were the main factors that guided me towards him.

Harry had raised his credibility at an incredible rate, building his portfolio in a way that showed its useful potential and engendered no doubt of his sincere desire to cooperate with us. I was responsible for informing Bunnaroeun of this occasionally, as I was in every way trying to convince Bunnaroeun of Bloomfield’s integrity and his ability to fill the holes that showed Dr. David Ahn’s dishonorable concealment of our participation in the sale of the ABA Bank. This is how I perceived Harry Bloomfield at that time, forgetting the great Latin phrase from Virgil's Aeneid: "Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes" (Eng.”Fear the Greeks, even when bringing gifts”)

Amazingly, upon turning over all correspondence from Mr. Bloomfield, it became clear that he was willing to use any instrument in achieving the sale of the ABA Bank regardless no matter what. This showed Mr. Bloomfield as the main and most important party in that transaction.

Just a small list of offers from Harry Bloomfield, which was referred to me within one week of our acquaintance, demonstrates his eager desire to recruit me to his side and influence Bunnaroeun to renounce retaliation against and harassment of his abusers.

“The Gora” project, on behalf of INCOMELINE ENTERPRISES LIMITED in Ukraine, was looking to invest $11.5 million.

The other project Harry was asking me to consider was in Albania. He wrote:

“We are developing a Nickel and Copper mining project for Albania, we are currently raising $3 to $4 million at an early phase, and we hope to go public later this year at much higher prices. One of my partners in this company is the world's most famous Albanian, the actor Jim Belushi. He is a friend of mine. Could this be of interest?” which supported with “Greg, I know Jim Belushi through a better friend, Dan Aykroyd. Happy to put you guys together, at some appropriate point.”

The same week, I received another proposal from Harry Bloomfield:

“I'm going on the board of a company called Genoil (http://www.genoil.net/). They have a technology to make heavy oil into light oil, very efficient, much cheaper than any other existing technology. The Chairman of Genoil, Mr. David Lifshultz wants to get to major oil producers, especially Lukoil. If you could get an appointment with Vagit Alekperov, the President of Lukoil, there would be a fee, and we could see what else...”

Of course, I accordingly informed Bunnaroeun, Barry Tucker, and Leslie Schwartz of every commercial offer from Mr. Bloomfield. It was understood that any progress made in the proposals was also applied to all participants. Their financial interest was insured by my honesty, which I humbly bear as the most precious heritage.

My respect for human rights in general, as an equal creation regardless of race or creed, brought joy to my fiftieth birthday anniversary with the most significant triumph. Bunnaroeun agreed not to prosecute a group of his attackers for their dishonorable act as well as to accept $1,000,000 in company interest, in spite of an earlier agreement that amounted to 10% from the sale of ABA bank. I was sincerely grateful that our friendship and shared noble goal prevailed over the evil of greed and revenge. I informed Harry of this decision.

On the other hand, understanding the complete value of this achievement, which is defined, has been reached with my participation, which enabled Mr. Bloomfield as the envoy and the negotiator, which elevated his involvement and raised his financial interest in this business deal, led me to consider my reward for the work has been achieved.

Thus, including interest, Barry Tucker and Leslie Schwartz, who guaranteed me the honesty of Harry Bloomfield. I was invited to discuss the minimum fee of $200,000 for my part besides the company appreciation, which, by logical reasoning speaks for itself. My partners have supported me in this direction and this amount was declared to Harry Bloomfield, and he agreed due to the arguments and events.

I notified Bunnaroeun An about the decision and we agreed on an equal split of $200,000 with Barry Tucker and Leslie Schwartz. The amount left would apply to the corporate expense.

So, everyone was satisfied with this resolution and Bloomfield informed me of his scheduled flight to Phnom Penh, which was supposed to be on May 20, 2007. The day coincided with the arrivals of the other group, the delegation from Kazakhstan. Harry offered to introduce his friend, Dr. Ahn, the President & CEO of ABA Bank and I promised meet him at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

I wrote to Bloomfield;

Dear Harry,

Congratulations on the finalization of the bank deal.

Thank you for taking time out from your busy schedule to introduce me to your friend Dr. Ahn during our trip in Cambodia. I am sure this will be a good influence with the future joint projects. In return, I would love to introduce you to my friend Dr. Bunnaroeun An, who is not only one of my dearest friends, but also a partner in the Cambodia investments project. Also, I will have some businessmen from Kazakhstan with me who are interested in investing in the field of natural resources in Cambodia.

In confirmation of the ABA Bank sale deal Harry wrote a note, which was forwarded to Bunnaroeun An;

Dear Greg,

I can summarize simply as follows:

The first $1m is set, and will be paid out of the last $5m still due on the transaction. The buyer has 2 months to pay.

The second $1m is being discussed now, the buyer's agent in Phnom Penh needed to confirm with his Head Office, but we expect confirmation shortly.

In any case, Dr. Ahn Chi Hun, my friend, confirms absolutely that we will split evenly with your friend, 50-50, every penny of the commission that is received.

Unfortunately a letter from Harry Bloomfield was not taken in confidence by Bunnaroeun, since in virtue of the circumstances connected with recent behavior of Dr. Ahn, undermined his faith to a group of persons acting with the seller. His doubts, he handed to me in the letter, which I considered as my duty to acquaint with Barry Tucker, where I wrote:

Dear Barry:

Please find the following e-mail from the minister Bunnaroeun An. That was giving me a reality point of mine participation. I have not forwarded to Mr. Bloomfield this information yet, before you will be able to review it. Please be informed that no other business was delivered to Mr. Bloomfield, just one contact Stan Bharti of Forbes Manhattan www.forbesmanhattan.com, which was from Mr. Leslie Schwartz on Lizzie Grubman’s recommendation.

Dear Brother;

In reference to the information submitted by Mr. Bloomfield, it does not clearly state my one million dollar commission and your award of $200 thousand. If the person who is in charge of this negotiation will not correct this and assure me that our commissions will be received, I will have to take administrative action which will involve bringing both buyers and sellers to the table.

Harry Bloomfield, after receiving this note from Bunnaroeun had promptly replied the following directly to Dr. An attention:

Dear Dr. Bunnaroeun An,

Please allow me to communicate directly with you to say that I look forward to meeting you in Cambodia shortly, together with Gregory Shukhman, and to a successful conclusion of this deal.

With expressions of highest esteem, I am, yours sincerely,

H. Bloomfield, Q.C.

Of course, such a statement has convinced our side, so more, that before of our meeting in Cambodia, was slightly remained less than two weeks, and we had more important things ahead to achieve, though little things in life does not happen, but it was necessary for us to rapidly move forward as quickly as possible to meet our goal of our dreams.
