Overview - Data and Event Calender
North America
• In the week ahead, the US the market will focus on the release of durable goods orders, existing home sales and GDP. Also expected for release are the house price index, consumer sentiment, personal consumption and core PCE.
• A quiet week ahead for Canada. The leading indicator is the only data scheduled for release.
Australia and New Zealand
• A relatively quiet week for the Australian calendar. Markets will monitor Motor vehicle sales and skilled vacancies. The RBA will release its Financial Stability Review next Thursday.
• On Wednesday, 24 March 2010 the AOFM will tender the issue of $500 million of March 2019 Bonds. On Friday, 26 March 2010 the AOFM will tender the issue of $700 million of June 2014 Bonds.
• On Tuesday, 23 March 2010 the AOFM will tender the issues of $300million of September 2025 Treasury Indexed Bonds.
• It will be a busy week for New Zealand. Data scheduled for release are Q4 GDP, the trade balance and the current account balance.
Japan and China*
• The Japanese market will be closed Monday. Following the holiday the markets will focus on the Bank of Japan meeting minutes and CPI data.
• There is little news from China. This week will see the release of industrial profits YTD.
Europe and UK
• In the week ahead, the Euro-Zone markets will watch the release of consumer confidence and industrial new orders. Also expected for release are the PMI for services, manufacturing and composites industries.
• Very little data will come out of Germany this week with the highlights been the PMI for manufacturing and services. Also expected for release are the IFO surveys of business climate and expectations.
• The UK’s economic calendar will pick up this week. Major data releases include retail sales, CPI, RPI and total business investment.
